February 22, 2014 – Sermon on “Stairway to Heaven” by Tony Riggs

Tony Riggs’ sermon on “Stairway to Heaven” was in large part his testimony about his accident falling from a ladder while trimming a tree. After 6 months, he has been released as repaired. Tony used the stairway analogy along with ladders to make his points. Notable quotes are: “Who’s holding your ladder?”, “Timing is everything” and “Hire a tree guy”.

    Tony,
What an interesting sermon you developed out of your accident experience! It was amazing how many likenesses there were to your ladder accident and our spiritual walk with God. I especially liked the part about being very sure God is the One holding the ladder. It gave me pause to think about the timing of our lives. A few minutes either “before or after” can make all the difference in the direction our lives take. The part about hiring a “tree man” brought a chuckle from the audience, but was probably Good Advice. We appreciate you and your family, Tony, and we thank God that you are healing so well.

    Tony,

Thank you so much for sharing your testimony of healing. Lorraine had mentioned in Bible study your accident and how proud she was of how Becky stepped up and cared for you. I didnt realize the magnitude of the accident. Praise God for your quick recovery! I was so blessed to hear of the all of the support you received on your healing journey. What a blessing it is to have such a loving church family supporting you. I really appreciated all of the applications to our spiritual walk. I especially enjoyed your challenge to continue to grow in Christ! It is such a blessing to be in a congregation of outstanding men always leading us to the next step.
