Josh Cumming’s sermon “Worship – an End, not a means” began with a review of the types of ministries in the church and the effect each one has on the believer. He then moved into explaining how all the efforts of the church ministries came to an end when the worship begins. Josh stressed that worship starts in the mind as we know of God and then with emotion, the heart reacts to the realization the mind has of God’s Grace, leading to the conclusion that worship is the end result of the realization that we are sinners.

Josh used the following scriptures:  1 Cor. 1:21, Matt. 15:8-9, Ps. 96:6-8, Ps. 51:17, Ps. 38:18, Ps. 42:1-2, Ps. 73:25-26, Ps. 5:17, Ps. 33:8, Ps. 32:11, and Ps. 42.5

Jan. 28, 2012 – Sermon on “A Joyful Submission” by Josh Cummings

The sermon by Josh Cummings titled ” A Joyful Submisison” could be summed up in the statement Josh made that went something like “God’s design is for us to enjoy things, but we settle for the physical environment instead of spiritual enjoyment”. CS Lewis was quoted and the following scriptures were used: Mark 4:19, Ps 43, 16,53; Jer. 2:13, Ps 32:11, Is. 28:25-29, Is. 65, 2Pt, Rev. 21:13, 1Cor 15: 42-44, Rev 7:16.

Josh is a member of the Conroe Church of God 7th Day and is involved with youth and other ministry. He preaches by request.
