February 2, 2013 – Sermon on “A Clean Connection” by Josh Cummings and Baptismal thoughts and observations by Jason Rodriguez

Josh Cummings and Jason Rodriguez both contributed to this Sabbath service. Josh gave a sermon titled “A Clean Connection” where he gave reasons that people are disconnected from Christ and then gave some remedies for this condition. His sermon can be paraphrased in this way: We must let go of our fears and self deceptions and let God fill us with His Perfection.

Josh used the following scriptures:  1 John 4:7+9, Rom. 8:38-39, Ps. 136:1-3, Eph. 3:17-19, John 3:16, Is. 64:6, Rom. 3:10

Josh is a member of the Conroe COG7 and works with the youth and the worship teams among other endeavors. He preaches by request.

Jason gave some thoughts and observations between the sermon and the baptism of Tyler Armstrong and Stephen McCoy.  He described how Baptism is the recognition of an internal change and related how his work with the youth gave him a perspective on the spiritual growth of the youth as they matured and eventually were baptized.

Jason used the following scriptures: rom 6:4, Matt 3:16-17, Matt 28:19

  1. Gladys McCoy says:

    Josh and Jason,
Enjoyed both of your talks! They were encouraging to all of us, but reminded those being baptized that this is only the beginning of their journeys. Knowing that we have made the decision to put God in the Driver’s seat makes the rest of the choices so much easier. Of course, there will always be struggles, as long as we live, but admitting our need for the Savior is the greatest statement that we can make. Thanks to both of you for your work with the youth. We certainly appreciate you both and the love you show to them each day. Blessings to you. . . . . . Gladys
