October 14, 2017 – Sermon on “Advent” by Chip Hinds

Chip Hinds sermon on “Advent” led us to reconsider both the birth of Christ and His next coming. Some points he made are: “Advent times change your life forever”, “The question is: Have you made a personal faith commitment to Jesus Christ?”, and Christ came for the common man as evidenced by his common birth place.

June 3rd, 2017 – Sermon on “The Vision” by Chip Hinds

Pastor Paul describes Chip’s message as:  The vision for the Vibrant 21st Century Church was first outlined by Pastor Whaid Rose. It has been the major focus of our current President, Loren Stacey. It is a Christ-Centered, Grace-Oriented, Sabbath-Celebrating Church. To be that church, it will mean putting the Body of Christ first. We need to put each other before ourselves. To be that church means using every opportunity to become that church. To be that church means making the choice to be that church.

Pastor Paul describes Chip’s sermon as: Christ Jesus is the center. He is the center of us. We submit to Jesus as Lord of every area of our lives. He is the center of our unity. Jesus is the reason we are united as believers, the one we unite around, and the one who holds us together. He is the center of our universe. All things were made through Him, by Him, and for Him. Christ Jesus is the center.May mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you.

Chip Hinds’ sermon on  “Plowshares and Pruning hooks: Ultimate Peace”  started with the explanation of the COG7 Vision, which turns out to be found at http://cog7.org/about-us/mission-and-vision/.  He also explained the Conference theme for 2013-15 which is “The Worshipping Church”.  Following this Chip expanded on the Plowshares and Pruning hooks theory of what peace consists of.

Chip Hinds’ sermon on “Faith that Works”  started with a description of the vision of the COG7 which is “becoming and building a vibrant church in the 21st century”. The sermon itself presented several questions including “What is spiritual maturity” and “What’s truth without Love?”

Chip used the following scriptures: Luke 18:1-8, Rom. 1:11-17, Hab. 2:1-4, Eph. 4:30-32, 1-6, 11-24, Matt. 18:21-22, Gal. 5:22-26, James 2:17, and Ps. 139:1-4, 23-24.
