Nathan Lawson’s sermon “Now the birth of Jesus happened like this” was  an exhortation to remember the birth of Jesus and the impact that it has on our lives.  Nathan stated the COG7 doctrinal position on the holiday of Christmas and went on to develop these points in relation to the keeping of Christmas: 1. If you don’t have the Lordship of Jesus, then all you have is a holiday, 2. If you don’t live by the Bible, then all you have is a holiday, 3. If don’t have peace and joy, then all you have is a holiday.

Nathan used the following scriptures: Matt. 1:18 +21, 22-23, Luke 2:10-14, Acts 4:12, Rom. 3:23, 6:23, Phil. 2:0-11, 1 John 5:11-12, Ps. 119:11 + 113.

Nathan Lawson is an Elder at the Conroe Church of God 7th Day and lives in Conroe, TX.  He is the retired pastor of the Conroe church and was preaching by request.

Nathan Lawson’s sermon “Good Morning Charlie Brown” was inspired by a comic strip titled The EasyYoke, Nathan says it is the first time he has found inspiration in a comic strip character.  The short version is that Charlie Brown was informed by Linus about the meaning of the yoke he (Linus) was wearing as he met Charlie Brown on the road. The meaning ultimately led to Matt 11:29 and Jesus saying that His yoke was easy and the burden light. Nathan endeavored to contrast the difference in the yoke of bondage with the yoke of light.

Nathan referenced the following scriptures: Jer. 28.10. 1Kings 12:9, Lam. 1:14, Matt. 11:27-30, and Gal. 1:3-4

Nathan’s sermon on “The Roads we all must travel” explained the commitment believers must have in choosing the road to eternal life.  Nathan used Saul’s experience on the road to Damascus and the disciples experience on the road to Emmaus to illustrate the first two of three roads we must travel. Damascus is a life changing road, Emmaus is a fellowship road.  The final road found in Matt. 7:13 reads” Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it.”

We also learned that there are 4000 miles of roads in Alaska and 152,000 miles of roads in Texas.

Nathan used the following scriptures: Ps. 1, Rom. 3:23, Rom. 6:23, Acts 3:19, Acts 2:38-39, Luke 24:32-34, Matt. 7:13-14.
