Michael Smith’s sermon on “Know a good carpenter?” was a testimony of his life as a carpenter when much younger and the various spiritual applications that can be made to the world of carpentry. Michael started with leading the children in song and directed much of his sermon to the youth. Some notable quotes were: “Measure twice, cut once”, “Are we not like wood in some respects?”, and “If you don’t marry rich, marry a carpenter”.
Michael used the following scriptures: Matt. 13:53-58, Ez. 11:19, John 19:16-18

Mike,
Your sermon was a thought-provoking glimpse into the life of our
Savior. We don’t often think about His life before the cross, but it was interesting to realize that he was a person on this earth as we are, as He went about helping others. I imagine He was a wonderful
son.
It was good for the young people to hear about how we happened to choose the lives that we did. I think that when we turn our lives over to God, He helps us to make the right choices along life’s path.
May God bless you and your family, Mike. Thanks for your faithfulness.
