January 21st, 2017 – Sermon on “Suffering for Good Reasons” by Paul Pedersen

Pastor Paul describes the sermon as: None of us want to suffer. We suffer for many different reasons. In 1 Peter, Peter writes about suffering because of Jesus. Jesus is our ultimate example of one who suffered. According to Peter, when we suffer, we should have the right relationship in suffering: following after God and His Word, and showing His kindness to others. We should have the right response in suffering: elevating Jesus Christ and speaking God’s truth. We should have the right reason for suffering: suffering for God’s purposes including the spread of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Paul used the following scriptures: 1 Peter 3:8-18; Deuteronomy 22:4
