Dennis O’Banion’s sermon “For the Love of the Church” started with his testimony where he gave a history of his teenage years, proposal and marriage to Kathy and his relocation to the Conroe area. He followed with the importance of the church, the privilege of serving the church wherever it was located, and his love for the local congregation. Christ’s love for the Bride served as the main object of comparison. He used the following scriptures: 1 John 5:1, Eph. 5:22-25, 26-27, Matt. 16:18, John 17:9-11, 1 Pt. 1:7, Matt: 18

Dennis,
Your sermon about the Love of the Church was very much appreciated. Seldom do we put into words what we mean to one another. I think we take each other for granted, much as we do our family members. It is when we are threatened by circumstances or illness or accident or by hurt feelings that we realize how very much we mean to each other. I am glad you put these feelings into words. Reminding us of the price Jesus paid for the Church and of how he loved the Church was a blessing to all of us.
As fas as your entering our family via Kathy, you know that we are very happy to have you with us. We thank God daily for putting us together, not only by marriage, but in our church family also. Thanks again, Dennis, for all your work in preparing and delivering the sermon. May God be very close to you in your medical decisions and treatments.
Gladys
