Dennis O’Banion’s sermon on “What will it cost me to follow Jesus” started with some humor and then developed the question of a permanent change, a lifetime commitment, and full devotion to Jesus as Lord of our life. His sermon asked question “Have I really given over everything to Jesus?”

Dennis croppedDennis used the following scriptures: Luke 9:23, 57-62, 19:23, John 21:19

Dennis, I appreciate both the low key and humorous startup to your sermon, sometimes the podium can get to be a stressful place. Your sermon calls us back to examine our basic commitment and that is something that can get lost in the details of living.

  2. Gladys McCoy says:

    Dennis,
Your sermon was a challenge to all of us. You reminded us of the life-changing decision that we make, but that we must follow through with a life that is dedicated to our Lord. Following Jesus is not always the easy road, but it is always the best route to take. The cost is different for each of us, but the cost is nothing compared to the price Jesus paid. As his grace reaches us, we can know the total peace and joy that only He can give. Thank you, Dennis, for your dedication. We certainly do appreciate all that you do for the Church and for us.

    Gladys
