April 16th, 2016 – Sermon on “Called to Serve” by Paul Pedersen

Paul PedersenPastor Paul describes the sermon as : Around the time of Lord’s Supper each year, we also do foot washing. Foot washing reminds us of how our Lord Jesus served the disciples by washing their feet. In this, He set an example to us to continue in foot washing. He also set the example of service to our fellow Christian. Some people will not like the be told to serve because it might seem beneath them or demeaning. Yet, Jesus told us to not be like those that ruled over others, but rather to serve and be served by our fellow Christian. As Christians, we are to serve others. Likewise, we are to receive humbly and with gratitude from those that serve us on behalf of Christ. In addition, we are to set the example to others how to serve as Christ would have us serve. No one is above the call to serve. Even those that call themselves “great” are encouraged by Jesus to be the greatest servants to their fellow Christians. We are all called to serve.

Paul used the following scriptures: Matthew 20:24-28, John 13:14-15

    Paul,

To serve, as well as to be served, are certainly Godly traits. Sometimes I feel like to be good receivers takes more humility than being able to give. Thank you for reminding us of the importance of the Lord’s Supper and the great meaning it has for our lives.

May God’s Holy Spirit dwell with you and yours. . .

    Gladys
