March 11th, 2017 – Sermon on “Courage!” by Paul Pedersen

Pastor Paul describes his sermon as: The Bible is full of courageous people. Think of a boy named David standing before a giant named Goliath. Think about the Apostles standing before the Sanhedrin. Think about Jesus standing before his accusers. Courage can also be seen in the book of Esther. Like the courage of the characters in Esther, we need to be courageous Christians. We need to boldly live for Jesus.

May mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you.

Paul used the following scriptures: : Esther 5, John 13:17; Psalm 37:23; Jeremiah 29:11; Exodus 20:5; Matthew 6:33

Paul describes this sermon as: I’m so glad I’m a part of the family of God. Jesus takes a tense moment and turns it into a teachable moment. Jesus shows us the importance that spiritual business and relationships have over human ones. God created the family. Family is an important thing. However, being a part of God’s family is more important, and it matters eternally.

Paul used the following scriptures: Mark 3:21, 31-34; James 2:18; 6:40

February 18th, 2017 – Sermon on “Built by God” by Paul Pedersen

Pastor Paul describes the sermon as: There are builders in our church. We people building houses. We have business owners building a business. We have parents building a family. When you build, you have a blueprint, a business plan, or goals as a family. God is invested in us. God is helping with the blueprints. God is a part of the construction crew in our lives. Psalm 127, begins by saying, “Unless the Lord builds the house….” What are you building? “God wants you to build with his blueprints, and to allow him to be on the construction team.”
May mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you.

Paul used the following scriptures: Psalm 127:1-5; 128:1-6; Proverbs 6:6; Matthew 7:24-27

Pastor Paul describes the sermon as: None of us want to suffer. We suffer for many different reasons. In 1 Peter, Peter writes about suffering because of Jesus. Jesus is our ultimate example of one who suffered. According to Peter, when we suffer, we should have the right relationship in suffering: following after God and His Word, and showing His kindness to others. We should have the right response in suffering: elevating Jesus Christ and speaking God’s truth. We should have the right reason for suffering: suffering for God’s purposes including the spread of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Paul used the following scriptures: 1 Peter 3:8-18; Deuteronomy 22:4

Pastor Paul describes the sermon as: As parents, we desire our children to grow up to become Christians. There are numerous books and magazines that discuss parenting strategies. In this message, I outline some teachings that Moses gives in Deuteronomy 6:1-9. First, live right. Our children see how we live. Our lives should model Godly behaviors according to scripture. Second, love right. God should be our focus, and we should have no gods before Him. Our children see what we give our time and attention to. Third, learn right. Living and loving as a Christian is rooted in scripture. We are to put it in our own hearts, and in turn, teach it. Our children need to learn God’s Word.
May mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you.

Paul used the following scriptures: Deuteronomy 6:1-9

Our Big God has Big plans which include Jesus, salvation, and His Spirit. God gave to us. Our response is to believe in Him and love Him.

May mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you.

Pastor Paul describes the sermon as: In this message, I discuss the Word of God. Often, we refer to Jesus as the Word. However, in this message, I am specifically looking at the message to all people contained in the pages of scripture. The Word of God is powerful in our lives. It is even more powerful when it is used by faith. Our faith experience begins by hearing the Word of God. That Word of God impacts our inward and outward spirituality. Faith comes by hearing, and then we are to act on the Word of God. The best action we can have, in response to God’s Word, is to share the gospel of Jesus.

May mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you.

Paul used the following scriptures: Luke 11:28; James 1:22; Psalm 119:105; Hebrews 4:12; Romans 10:17 Closing Que for Worship Team: a line from the hymn “How Firm a Foundation”

Pastor Paul describes the sermon as: Isaac dug again the wells that his father had dug. There is an allegorical application that I am looking at: the water representing the blessings from God that has been discovered by Christians through the ages. Our church does not exist by accident. There are those who have gone before us that have invested their lives in studying God’s Word, and advancing His kingdom. We have entered into the year 2017. This year, we will begin to redig our spiritual wells. We will rediscover some of our core beliefs and experiences. I give just a handful of examples: our focus on the Lord Jesus Christ; our dedication to the Holy Bible; our expectancy of God’s Holy Spirit; our obedience to the Sabbath; the mission of the church.

Paul used the following scriptures: Genesis 26:17-22, Isaiah 12:3

Paul PedersenPastor Paul describes the sermon as: Joel uses a real locust plague to bring a prophetic message that the day of the Lord is coming. He prophetically declared, “Blow the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in My holy mountain!” This prophetic message points to the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. He is coming again, and there will be a judgement. We are to blast our “trumpets” and sound our “alarms” that Jesus is coming again! The message that we are to declare is to repent, and to turn to the Lord Jesus. As Joel says, “That whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

May mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you.

Paul used the following scriptures: Joel 1:15; 2:1, 12-13, 15, 18, 19; Matthew 9:17; Joel 2:23-24, 28-32
