Jeff Kendrick’s sermon on “Embracing Forgiveness” focused on how the forgiveness of the Lord is complete and any misgivings we may have concerning any incident or sin our past are entirely in our minds. Jeff used 3 illustrations: The woman wiping Jesus’s feet with her hair, Peter after he denied knowing the Lord and a music video from Audio Adrenaline of “Ocean Floor”.

As always, I enjoyed your thoughts immensely. Wish Jeana could have been there to share the sermon with us. I had never really given much thought to the by-standers and what they must have been thinking through the episode of the woman wiping Jesus’ feet with her hair. The really upside of that is that Jesus didn’t care whether they approved or not. Exciting for our errors and sins and the way He feels about us. To absolutely know that He is on our side all the way is a wonderful feeling. The insights into Peter’s life were great. . the way that Peter was tried and tested in order to prepare him for great things in his life. The song fit the sermon completely. Thank you, Jeff, for broadening my horizon into the Total Forgiveness and Forgetfulness of our sins. Remembering them in order to not repeat them is good, but we must realize that God has completely forgiven us, and we don’t have to keep beating ourselves up because of our past. What a Savior! Thank you for your comments, I appreciate them. I was thinking some more about Peter being sifted like wheat and have concluded that he may well have been under the influence of Satan when he denied Christ in order to set up the sifting process. The sifting would have then taken place in the aftermath of the scene in Luke 22:61 when he would be agonizing over what he perceived as his failure. It may have been Satan’s plan to encourage a suicide or at least discourage him into leaving the ministry.
