Paul PedersenPastor Pedersen describes the sermon as: This is part 1 in a 3 part series on Thanks Living. The Bible teaches that in everything give thanks. What is our reason for giving thanks? It is God’s Providence. This message will convince the hearer of God’s Providence in their life. In Psalm 103, the Psalmist is praising and blessing God for His provision. Using the passage as the platform, we launch into an understanding of God’s provision in our lives: the provision of his redemption, sustenance, word, and wisdom.

Paul PedersenPaul Pedersen’s sermon on “The two Paths of Christian Living” contrasted the two ways of life described by Jesus in the sermon on the mount. Paul gave many examples of the Broad Way and the Narrow Way, especially expounding on the forgiveness of sin.

Pastor Pedersen describes the sermon as: Jesus tells his followers that there are two gates opening to two paths. One path is broad and it leads to destruction. The other path is narrow and it leads to life. These paths do not connect, and the narrow path does not allow for compromise. However, if you are ready to switch from the broad path to the narrow path, then Jesus is willing to forgive you of your sins, and grant you access to the narrow path which leads to Eternal Life. May mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you.

Notable quotes were “The choices we make today, impact our future”, “We all have chosen a path”, “God is not OK with sin” and ” There is no straddling the (2) paths”

Paul used the following scriptures: Matt. 7:13-14, 20-23, Mark 8:34-37, Gal. 5:16-17

Paul PedersenPaul Pedersen’s sermon on “Going through the storm”focused on overcoming storms in life, Paul used Acts 27 as the main scriptural reference, using the Apostle Paul’s shipwreck as an example.

Pastor Pedersen describes the sermon as: When we are going through life’s storms, we need to look to God. We need to have his mind, heart, and courage in the storm. In other words, in our storms, we should seek to know the mind of God. We should diligently seek answers in His word and in prayer. In our storms, we should seek to have the heart of God. As Christians, do we become bitter and act in anger because of the storms? Or, do people see the love, joy, and peace of Christ in our hearts? In our storms, we should seek to put on the courage of God. Courage comes best by looking to God in our storms.

Notable quotes were “There are times when the storms of life roll in”, “We can have confidence in God that He is strong for us”, and “We need to have the courage of God”.

Paul used the following scriptures: Acts 27 parts, Gal 5:22-26, Mark 4:38-40, Joshua 1:9, 2 Cor. 12:0

October 17th, 2015 – Sermon on “Join the Work” by Paul Pedersen

Pastor Pedersen describes the sermon as: This Sabbath’s message looks at a sermon that Paul preached in Antioch. The Gentiles in Antioch wanted to hear it preached again the following Sabbath. Nearly the whole city came to listen to Paul. Paul preached about how God used Israel and the line of King David to bring us the Savior Jesus. Paul showed how Jesus came, died, and rose from the dead just as scripture prophesied that He would. Paul pointed to the good news of Jesus that all can receive forgiveness and be justified before God. There are two big things that we can apply from this passage. First, God was at work bringing about his plan. Second, God’s plan was the good news of Jesus Christ. God is still at work today. We need to Join the Work.

May mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you.

Notable quotes were “Where do I fit into the big picture of what God is doing?”, “Why did Jesus come? So we can have forgiveness”, and “Responding to God’s calling requires faith in action”

Paul used the following scriptures: Acts 13:13-42, Duet 7:1, Is 53:4-6 +10, John 3:16

This message speaks to our need as Christians to be bold for Christ. First, it speaks to how we receive boldness. Second, it speaks to the need to use our boldness to invest of ourselves into Christ’s Kingdom. Third, it speaks to the very character of our boldness. We need to be bold with our faith. This message is very challenging. We should not equate boldness with being obnoxious, loud, or rude. At the same time, we are not to be ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Pastor Paul describes it as:  This message looks at the similarities of two churches (Jerusalem and Antioch).  It paints a picture of how the early Christians followed this process of repentance, baptism, receiving the Holy Spirit, and reaching out to meet physical needs and share the gospel.  It is a simple, but challenging message.  In talking about baptism, it also sets the stage for my son’s baptism.
