Frank Camarillo’s sermon  on The Power of Unity was a call for the COG7 churches to unite and through uniting, accomplish great things. Frank is the COG7 representative  to the churches in the Galveston, Harris, Montgomery and perhaps the Walker county area and as a result visits a different church each week. It is from this perspective that he gave this sermon. When asked about what specifically we could accomplish, Frank named two areas after some discussion: Non English or Spanish speaking people groups in our area and cities that have concentrations of youth but no church presence such as Bryan / College Station.

Frank and his family call the COG7 in Conroe their home church but they travel between the churches in the greater Houston area and beyond representing the COG7 district leadership.

Frank Camarillo’s sermon on “Living a Meaningful Life” centered around the concept of  “to reap we have to sow and have patience while we wait.” Frank used illustrations drawn from people who had to persevere until their sowing brought fruit. Some of the points he made include ” God’s time is not our time”, “beware of inaction”, “use every opportunity. ”

Frank Camarillo’s sermon on “Making the Transition Count” included examples of transitions in life and quickly focused on transitions the church body faces. Frank challenged older believers to actively turn over their responsibilities to younger people and called  on the younger people to seek a double portion as in Elisha and Elijah.

Frank used the following scriptures: 2 Kings 2:1-5, Zach. 8:4-5, 2 Kings 13:21

Frank Camarillo’s sermon on “A Picture of the Effective Church” started out with a short video clip about breaking down the wall between the church and the culture around us and reaching out.  Frank continued with examples drawn from football teams and how the huddle is a place to get instruction and then go out and implement the play. His point was that we should do more than just attend church, we should get out of our comfort zone and demonstrate our faith and testimony. He concluded with an example of how God can use us drawing on Moses’ experience when first seeing the staff turn into a snake.

Frank used the following scriptures: Ex. 3:1-3, 4:1-2, 9, 7:17, 14:16, 17:6, Luke 9:4-17

Frank Camarillo’s sermon on “Putting God’s desires above our desires” opened with a story about distinguishing between good things of knowledge and important things. Frank continued to explain the essentials of giving God the prime choice of our time and resources.

Frank Camrillo’s sermon on “Seizing the Opportunity” started with a story of Napoleon failing to follow up a military victory and losing the battle of Waterloo as a result. He finished up with a story of a man conquering his misunderstanding of an attack by a toothless dog. In between Frank led us through the reasons we miss opportunities and how we should overcome obstacles to realize opportunities especially within the church and our spiritual life.

Frank Camarillo’s sermon “Responding to a Misfortune” was a reminder that things don’t allways go our way and we must be prepared to deal with misfortune if it arises.  Frank made serveral points including: Misfortune will find us sometime in life, when misfortune strikes turn to God immediately, and comply immediately to answers to prayer leaving your comfort zone when called.

In general, we can look for a way to turn our misfortune into a blessing. These scriptures were used: 1 Kings 17:1-14, Job.
