August 8th, 2015 – Sermon on “Got Vision?” by Paul Pedersen

Paul PedersenPaul Pedersen’s sermon on “Got Vision?” focused on how to accomplish goals by identifying methods to reach them and committing to working to accomplish the goal. Paul used the book of Ezra and the rebuilding of the temple to illustrate his point. Paul identified 5 points: 1. Hold onto the vision, 2. Fullfilling God’s vision takes hard work, 3. Get back up when you get knocked down, 4. Trust that God is at work with you , and 5. Do not pollute the vision when you get off course.

Some notable quotes are: “What is a vision? How do we get a vision?” and “Pray the God gives you a vision”

Nathan used the scriptures to explain the role a Pastor fills and explained the relationship between a Pastor and the congregation. The sermon developed into preparing the church for the coming of Paul Pedersen as the new pastor. Michael Smith 1-12-13Michael Smith’s sermon on “4 Gospels: Why?” Explored the four gospels and the differences between them and the reasons they exist and he used highlights to admonish us to higher values. Michael involved the children and tailored his sermon to include them. Erik used the story of a famous painting purchased at a second hand sale to illustrate his point and examined whether we were works in progress or otherwise. He gave us examples of how to view the concept of masterpiece.
