John A. McCoy’s sermon on “The Starting Line” used the analogy of the master caution light in an airplane instrument panel to illustrate how we need to evaluate all the reasons causing spiritual alerts John Arnold McCoy croppedin our lives. He went on to describe the blessing of a new pastor as not the end of a cycle, but the starting line with new responsibilities and then went on to apply the starting line effect to our relationship with God on an everyday basis.

Nathan Lawson’s sermon “Honor and the Golden Years” was a sometimes humorous look at what happens in old age and gave examples of the nathan2valuable contributions that can be made. Nathan gave personal examples and testified that it was not so bad to grow old. Nathan used scriptures about older people in the Bible to illustrate his points.

Alex Del ToroAlex del Toro’s sermon on “The Church in the Wilderness” compared the Israelites in the wilderness to the church today. Moses and his chief assistants were compared to the ministry leaders in the church. Alex ended the sermon with an explanation of how the Pastor of the local church needed the support of the Elders, Deacons and Board to do the work of the church.

February 21st, 2015 – Sermon on “Rest” by Gerson Gonzales

Gerson Gonzales’ Sermon on “Rest” started with a discussion of stress and how it can happen and continued with a call to refocus our concept of the 7th day Sabbath from physical rest from our labors to spiritual rest in the presence of God as was done in the days of creation. Dennis O’Banion, through his sermon  “A Sure Hope in Troubled Times”  subtitled ” Keep your Fork”, endeavored to bring our attention to the reasons we have hope and the nature of that hope.  A few notable quotes were: ” The life of the Godly is not a straight line”, “You ain’t seen nothing yet” and “The best is yet to come”. The reference the “Keep your fork” in the title referred to the unknown yet surely blessed future of the believer.

Ernesto Mendoza’s sermon on “A Call to a Life of Faith” started with his testimony of how he became born again and how God saved his marriage. From there he used Abraham to demonstrate the call to a life of faith.
