Michael Smith’s sermon on “Life’s two Roads” was a lesson in making good choices. Michael gave credit to Charles Swindoll’s book Living the Psalms and then proceeded to use a combination of  Psalms 1 and interaction with the children of the church to make his points on taking the right road in life. This paraphrase sums up the sermon: “Seeking good friends,  guarding your walk, meditating on God’s Law equals to the formula for success.”

Nathan Lawson’s sermon “Now the birth of Jesus happened like this” was  an exhortation to remember the birth of Jesus and the impact that it has on our lives.  Nathan stated the COG7 doctrinal position on the holiday of Christmas and went on to develop these points in relation to the keeping of Christmas: 1. If you don’t have the Lordship of Jesus, then all you have is a holiday, 2. If you don’t live by the Bible, then all you have is a holiday, 3. If don’t have peace and joy, then all you have is a holiday.

Nathan used the following scriptures: Matt. 1:18 +21, 22-23, Luke 2:10-14, Acts 4:12, Rom. 3:23, 6:23, Phil. 2:0-11, 1 John 5:11-12, Ps. 119:11 + 113.

Nathan Lawson is an Elder at the Conroe Church of God 7th Day and lives in Conroe, TX.  He is the retired pastor of the Conroe church and was preaching by request.

Dennis O’Banion’s sermon “For the Love of the Church” started with his testimony where he gave a history of his teenage years, proposal and marriage to Kathy and his relocation to the Conroe area. He followed with the importance of the church, the privilege of serving the church wherever it was located, and his love for the local congregation. Christ’s love for the Bride served as the main object of comparison.   He used the following scriptures: 1 John 5:1, Eph. 5:22-25, 26-27, Matt. 16:18, John 17:9-11, 1 Pt. 1:7, Matt: 18

Roy Keim’s sermon titled “The Cleansing Blood of Jesus” essentially was his testimony about the last 10 years or so of his life.  Roy took the opportunity to share the concerns and understandings he has gleaned over a lifetime with the church. He complimented the Conroe church for the harmony found here, he spoke of our need to praise God for who He is and what He has done for us. Roy compared his medical treatment, particularly the need for additional units of blood, to the need the church has for the Blood of Christ. Roy used the following scriptures: Ps. 113:1-9, 129:14, 90:9-10, 89:48, Eph. 1:7, 1 Cor 6:20, Lev. 17:11, Gal. 2:20, 1 Thes. 5:23.

Roy Keim is an Elder in the Conroe Church of God 7th Day and was preaching by request.

Jody McCoy’s sermon on “The battle for the Soul” is the fourth part in a four-part series.  In this part Jody explained the difference between justice and Grace, and the difference between respect and Love. As with the other parts of the series, Jody went into fine detail explaining the concepts. John Crisp’s sermon on “What’s your commitment” actually may have another name and I will change it when I learn what it is. This sermon ultimately asked two questions: 1. What is your commitment and 2. How strong is your resolve.  John used many scriptures to lead us to these questions and they are in part: 1 PT. 1: -3+4, 13:2-3, John 1:12-13, John 3:3, Luke 24:17-21, 18:1-8, Rev. 21:1-4, Eph. 1:18-20, and Heb. 11.

John Brann’s sermon “It’s just not convenient” started with a historic look at how and why the church changed from the 7th day to the 1st day for the Sabbath. He continued with common reasons not to keep the Sabbath on the 7th day.  He stressed that our relationship with God is the important thing, not keeping the ordinances.  John used the following scriptures: Heb. 4:1 + 18-16.  John also treated us to a video from Sarah Draget in Australia. She sang a song detailing the history of the Sabbath.
